Program Overview

The Learning Designer Lab is changing the paradigm of education through its highly desireable two-year program where a small cohort of participants work towards earning a M. Ed in Learning Design for a specific secondary subject-area (English, History, Math, or Science). 

Coursework​

The rigorous coursework program incorporates studies in the following areas:

- Subject-Area Methods

- Learning Theory

- Cultivating Culture and

- Design Thinking

​School-Based Placement

Each semester participants will spend some time in classrooms throughout the area.  The program begins with a deep dive across four grade levels and culminates in the final year with a semester-long in-classroom practicum.

​Learning Lab

​Learning Designers learn, work, and grow in a innovative, collaborative space with access to;

- classroom simulation tools

- bright, comfortable group work spaces

- cutting edge technology

Simulations

Participants will have access to a number of classroom simulation tools aimed to help build pedagogical skills in a safe environment. Some of these tools include:

- TeachLive

- SimSchool

- eTTPS

- Collaborative Lesson Cyles

​People

The Learning Designer Lab brings together people passionate about being lifelong learners and creating educational change. Participants will work with their peers in collaborative lesson cycles, mentors in guided fieldwork, and the greater community on projects and committees.
